Boat Trip to the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers

A beautiful trip through the Ultima Esperanza fjord to reach Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers!

Indicative Program

The glaciers Balmaceda and Serrano are samples of what was the period of glaciation. They are formed during thousands of years. They are a part of the Campo Hielo Sur and are inside the National Park Bernardo O’Higgins.

The only way to approach to these two glaciers is sailing. You will leave from Puerto Natales early to sail inside the Última Esperanza. During the tour one can observe an environment surrounded with hills and forests, where sea lions are romping on the cliffs, and the sector called ” Colony of Cormorants ” located between the cliffs, where one can observe hundreds of birds of this species.

The ship comes close to the Glacier Balmaceda and then stops to disembark for a trek in the forest up to the shore of the lake with icebargs. It is common to see to enormous chunks of ice falling in the water of the fjord. Later the ship arrives at the Estancia Perales to lunch and visit the facilities and finally the ship come back to Puerto Natales.
